There’s nothing about FTD that’s one size fits all - each journey is unique.

I couldn’t always say this, but the story I’m sharing is one of personal growth and hope.

‍

I was so excited to celebrate my 50th birthday. Life was good-really good until a disinhibited, inappropriate alien, was beamed into Rob, my high school sweetheart and husband of 30 years. FTD turned our world upside down.

‍

I was floundering but I was sure that if I gave it my all, I could fix it …whatever IT was. I was on a solo mission. I read, researched, planned activities, and made healthy meals but all my efforts didn’t stop FTD’s take over our lives.

‍

Early in the journey, I wavered between embarrassment, fear, and fix; I borrowed trouble at every turn and spent endless hours worrying about things that never happened.

‍

By the end of Rob’s nine year journey, I’d learned to trust my heart.  When managing his daily needs became impossible, I realized that the time had come for me to entrust his care to professionals so I could devote all my energy to loving. It was a win-win.
